I’m not a huge fan of LV bags in general because everyone seems to be wearing them, especially the Neverfull ones or any other general LV canvas print. It makes it look sort of cheap. There are so many fakes around and it’s impossible to say if it’s authentic or not. However, I just recently discovered this LV model while flying through Amsterdam and visiting LV store. I never realized that classic look exists in LV collection, plain leather ones, no print. You can do crossbody or carry as a hand bag. They had different styles of buckles, but it’s the same bag. They also had different sizes. I’m a practical gal and medium seems the way to go. I would love to know how this model stands across other LV bags and is it worth buying new or do they exist as vintage pieces at greater discounts?
Thanks, Alexa- SStefany Bags Shoes and More @stefany
Style is always personal, and I do think this is a great-looking bag. Its extremely expensive—especially when you compare it to Chanel and Hermès bags in the same price range that have a much stronger pedigree and long-standing legacy. Louis Vuitton recently raised their prices again, and now this particular model retails for around $7,900.
The Capucines is LV’s answer to the Hermès Kelly and some of the classic Chanel flap bags that have been around for decades. But the Capucines itself is a much newer model, introduced only in 2013. Because of that, you won’t really find true vintage versions of it on the market yet, but if you're open to buying pre-owned, you can usually find a well-kept one in the $3-4K range.
