A few days ago I bought a Fendi Zucca Mamma Baguette on Vestiaire. The photos looked great and I thought it was a genuine vintage bag at a good price. I have the same style already, but mine’s worn out, so I wanted a newer one. When I opened the box, though, something felt off. The stitching is messy, the hardware is crooked, and the Fendi stamp looks wrong offline ( see a few attached pictures) . The canvas looks extremely fresh but plasticky while the hardware is scratched and dull, which doesn’t make sense. What’s stranger I purchased this as direct ship but it has a Vestiaire tag attached —it shows a different reference number and a different seller, and I can still see that old listing on their site. This is not some type of hight value bag that worth scamming people, I only paid about $300+, I’m pretty confused. Could this be some kind of scam that now dealing with this cheaper "vintage like bags"? I’m sending it back to Vestiaire for them to check "tolerances", but I’d love to hear what do you think.

        1. we sold many of this type of Mamma Baguettes over the years and I see too many red flags to even list them all. First big one is the low quality of leather used for strap, buckle and inside rim around the zipper. its too shiny and too fresh and i agree it looks off. Another red flag is that the strap is most always double stitched on a classic Zucca print Mama baguette of that era. Smaller size baguettes may have a solid two sided unstitched strap. You can lookup thousands of examples online market places like TRR or VC itself. It appears that this bag was put together by some “artisan” who used some valid parts such as buckles as they appear to be genuine. Please let me know if these have some solid weight to them or feel plasticky. Another thing that throws me off is the 4 screws on the back of the buckle, all misaligned , with different spacing between right and left, top and bottom in reference to the stitching. The screws also are looking in different directions and do not appear to be flush with the leather. If you see holes between the screws and leather it’s most definitely not genuine. When looking at stitching, Fendi is super precise , your bag’s stitching is not consistent , different sizes of stitches is a huge no no.

VC just received the returned Fendi bag and claimed it’s authentic. What’s worse, they now plan to relist it for sale under my account. This is incredibly frustrating — they’re ignoring all evidence and trying to make me responsible for reselling a counterfeit item.

What’s worse, VC relisted this bag at the same price, and it sold within the first 30 minutes—before I even had a chance to act—meaning someone else bought it under the false impression that it was authentic. On top of that, I lost $20 in processing fees, which they refuse to refund. After this experience, I will never buy from VC again. This company has shown itself to be unethical and careless. They don’t care about their customers—only about making another sale, whether the bag is fake or not.
After doing some research, I found many reports from other people describing the exact same situation. Honestly, it’s shocking—and not even funny anymore.

                  1. Keep pressing VC to address this issue—contact them directly via X (Twitter). Personally, ever since eBay introduced both free and paid authentication services last year, I’ve preferred doing business through them. I recently ordered a bag using their authentication option, and honestly, the experience was night and day compared to VC.

While I understand mistakes can happen, eBay’s process feels much more reliable. They even repack your item in a sleek, quality eBay-branded dust bag (at least in my case—and this wasn’t even a super high-end item, just a $300+ vintage bag), and place it inside a neat, custom eBay box. It’s not quite the iPhone unboxing experience, but the presentation definitely feels thoughtful and pleasant to both the eye and touch. 😊
